Welcome to A Foreign Perspective
In 2022, I packed up my life in Canada—my business, my house, and everything I thought I was supposed to want—and moved to Belize with my wife and two young boys.
We didn’t move for a job. We didn’t move for retirement. We moved because the old script was no longer working. The “normal life” had become unsustainable—financially, mentally, spiritually. So we took the leap into something unknown, hoping it would be better. And it was.
Definitely not easier, but better.
A Foreign Perspective is a place for people who feel the same pull; people who suspect there’s more to life than mortgages and rush-hour traffic. If you’ve ever thought about leaving your country, changing your lifestyle, or just getting off the hamster wheel for a while, this publication is for you.
In my writing, I share stories from the road, hard-won insights about life abroad, and honest reflections on what it means to reject the traditional path and build something different.
I also host Foreign Radio, a podcast about travel and life abroad. In each episode, I talk with people who’ve left the familiar behind to carve out new lives in foreign lands. These are real conversations about risk, reinvention, and what it means to build a life in a new and unfamiliar place.
Whether you’re still in the dreaming phase or knee-deep in your own foreign adventure, I hope this space provides you with clarity, courage, and perhaps a few shortcuts.
