Really enjoyed this episode, across the board!

I especially loved the conversation around emotional resilience and the idea of “life recycling.” So much to think about if you’re considering a move abroad!

Gregory, Thank you for a thoughtful discussion. Your comments on beauty resonates with me. I’ve been fortunate to live in beautiful places and now find myself in an area that is urban, convenient and social, but simply not beautiful. I sometimes wonder if I should give it up for beauty when I walk out my front door. I did put up Indian inspired wallpaper and I am fortunate to have special items from travel in my personal space. However, the beauty of the place you live in and the curiosity of what you find in aesthetically pleasing places is important to overall happiness for those who care about color, history and like a little decay. I may have to move.

Thank you, Sarah. Before you move, may I suggest that you read a couple of essays I have written about finding beauty close to home? The first one is linked to in the second one, which is here: https://livingelsewhere.substack.com/p/non-canonical-beauty-lisbon-visual-essay I hope you'll enjoy them!

Interesting discussion. I agree with the restraint thing... :-) As for equality, Sweden has certainly gone all in on that one, at the expense of many other important things. That doesn't necessarily suit everyone, especially not how it plays out in close relationships and families over here. Sweden is not for everyone, especially in winter. :-)
